The majority of consumers conducting searches use Google because it combines thorough coverage of the web with excellent relevancy. Google aims to provide an easy, honest and objective way to find high-quality websites. Google is the most difficult search engine to optimize, but the payoff is well worth the price.   • Focusing on steadily gaining links from targeted, quality, related websites is the best way to achieve and maintain good rankings in Google. Excessive use of affiliate or reciprocal links will have a negative impact. (Google recommends less than 100 links on any given page.)

  • Make sure that your TITLE and ALT tags are descriptive and accurate.
  • Think about the phrases people would use to search for your products or services. These keywords will drive highly pre-qualified and converting traffic. An important point to remember is to include keyword phrases within the visible copy on your site.

Before your empire appears on the first page of Google's search results there are three unique terms that relate to success.

  • PageRank gauges the perceived value of a web page based on the quality and quantity of links pointed to that particular page. When your keywords are uncommon and in a less competitive industry they alone can negate the value of PageRank. However, PageRank is extremely valuable if your keywords are very competitive.
  • The Sandbox was created as a way to combat spamming and other unscrupulous SEO practices. Google denies high ranking ability to new sites and deprecates the value for new links. After roughly three months these sites and links are given proper clout and allowed access to the search engine's playground. The most common way to circumvent the Sandbox is to join the Google Adwords.
  • Getting banned. It’s easier to get your website permanently removed (banned) from Google, than you might think. Many starting SEO companies or SEO self-learners don’t have enough experience to accurately determine the difference between ethical search engine optimization and black-hat practices.
